First Design Expo of the 9th grade of 2024!

Image
For 3 months, our 9th grade students worked on the "The Storage Project". This project tackled a real issue: the lack of space to store materials. They started by researching, developing ideas, and finally building full-scale cardboard prototypes. The students faced the challenge of turning ideas into drawings and then into constructions. To achieve this, they had to learn basic geometry concepts and develop three-dimensional products. Building their prototypes required a strategic approach, involving measuring and combining the front and side views of their designs to create functional products. But, what is a prototype? In product design, it's an initial version of the product used to test ideas and see how they work in real life. Our students made cardboard prototypes to assess the feasibility of their ideas and make changes if necessary. Prototypes don't need to be perfect, but they are a valuable visual tool to identify what works and what doesn't. Fá

"Letter to Grandparents" at The Great Kindness Challenge

Image
During The Great Kindness Challenge week in February of this year, the students of 2A and 2B in elementary school, wrote letters to some elderly people at a geriatric center called Sinankay. They requested our support through the Social Service department to participate in their activity called "Letter to Grandparents" on Friendship Day. The second-grade students demonstrated attributes of the PYP profile by being good communicators and caring individuals. The elderly residents of the geriatric center who received the letters responded with gratitude, sending back letters to the students with their names and lovely drawings. Additionally, we received a written recognition for Mr. Dunn, our principal, for facilitating this activity, which undoubtedly brought joy to the hearts of the elderly residents. This innovative project utilizes recycled materials from the school to create a fun and stimulating learning environment. "Cabullería" is designed to promote balance, strength, and social skills among young children. Kids immerse themselves in an imaginary world where they use ropes, bars, and other recycled materials to challenge their motor skills and work together as a team.
