ASOMEX Students Leadership Conference, Queretaro 2024

From October 2nd to 5th, the ASOMEX Students Leadership Conference was held at JFK, aimed at promoting leadership development among high school students. The conference encouraged the exchange of ideas and empowered students to become agents of change in their communities. This annual event is hosted by a different school each year and is designed for Student Council members from ASOMEX (Association of American Schools in Mexico) high schools. This year’s edition featured participation from The American School Foundation of Puebla, American Institute of Monterrey, The American School of Puerto Vallarta, Colegio Americano de Saltillo, The American School Foundation of Chiapas, and our school, John F. Kennedy, The American School of Querétaro. The event included workshops on leadership and emotional intelligence, as well as a regional tour of Querétaro’s historic downtown. JFK General Director Re-elected as ASOMEX President for Second Term

Last weekend our General Director, Adrian Leece, was elected to be ASOMEX President for a second consecutive term. This means he will carry on for another three years representing and sharing best practices, professional development and student events across all 20 member schools in Mexico, helping to keep the name of JFK in the national and international spotlight. Flag football and soccer ASOMEX tournaments

Last week our flag football and soccer teams had a great participation in their respective ASOMEX tournaments. The American School of Tampico hosted the ASOMEX children's category soccer tournament where more than 10 schools participated. Our girls team won the sportsmanship award, the only award given in this category. Congratulations to both teams for their great participation! We also had flag football representation at Saltillo’s flag football ASOMEX, where our team Juvenil A category (6 th and 7 th grade) participated for the first time with great results. ASOMEX Principals Congress / Congreso Directores ASOMEX

Last weekend, the principals of our school gathered for an exciting congress that brought together representatives from ten ASOMEX Schools, ranging from Preschool to High School. The main purpose of this event was to foster networking and share best educational practices across the different school sections. One of the prominent figures who participated in the congress was Kevin Bartlett, known as one of the creators of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and founder of the Common Ground Collaborative. Bartlett, who works with several schools worldwide, shared valuable insights and perspectives on education during the event. ASOMEX Soccer Results

This weekend, the Jaguar spirit flooded the stands of the American Institute of Monterrey, with our 7th to 9th grade student teams participating in the ASOMEX soccer tournament. The girls' team achieved 5th place, and the boys' team brought home the 3rd place trophy! Congratulations Jaguars for your excellent performance, and to all the JFK moms and dads who accompanied them with united and enthusiastic cheers during the tournament.    ---------------------------- Este fin de semana, el espíritu Jaguar inundó las gradas del American Institute of Monterrey, con la participación en el torneo ASOMEX de soccer de nuestros equipos de alumnos de 7mo a 9no. El equipo femenil logró el 5to lugar y el varonil trajo a casa la copa de 3er lugar! Felicidades Jaguars por su excelente desempeño, y a todos los papás y mamás JFK que los acompañaron con una porra unida y entusiasta durante el torneo.  

MS ASOMEX Math Counts

Middle School students have successfully competed in the ASOMEX MathCounts event in Peterson Schools in Mexico City, in which our team took 4th place overall in the Relay category and our 8th grade student Kouske Andrade placed in the Top 20 for the event.  We are grateful for the guidance from Miss Fer Arroyo and support, and excited to see our Jaguars achieving the extraordinary in Mathematics!   Camille Casses, MS Principal   ------------------------------------------------------- Alumnos de Middle School han competido exitosamente en el evento ASOMEX MathCounts en Peterson Schools de la Ciudad de México, en el cual nuestro equipo obtuvo el 4to lugar general en la categoría Relevos y nuestro alumno de octavo grado Kouske Andrade se ubicó en el Top 20 del evento. ¡Estamos agradecidos por la guía y el apoyo de Miss Fer Arroyo, y emocionados de ver a nuestros Jaguars lograr lo extraordinario en Matemáticas! We want to congratulate our soccer team for their participation last week at the Soccer Asomex at the American School of Puerto Vallarta. They reached quarter finals and represented the JFK with pride. Congratulations! -------------------------------------------------------  Queremos felicitar a nuestro equipo de fútbol por su participación la semana pasada en el Asomex de fútbol en el Colegio Americano de Puerto Vallarta. Llegaron a cuartos de final y representaron al JFK con orgullo. ¡Muchas felicidades!

ASOMEX Antibullying Prevention Workshop

Last Friday we received in our school 35 participants from 13 ASOMEX schools to attend the Antibullying Prevention workshop, given by Rebeca Pelayo, certified trainer in the bullying prevention program of Olweus. It was a very successful workshop and allowed us a great opportunity to create collaborative work with other schools. Together we can make a difference!!
