Teaching, Learning, and Living with Purpose: JFK Educators at Tri Association Conference 2024

Last week, 26 JFK-Queretaro educators participated in the Tri Association Conference held in Mexico City, joining a diverse group of educators from across Latin America. The professional development sessions focused on current trends in education, fostering collaboration, and building inclusive learning environments. Key topics included classroom management, differentiated instruction, assessment strategies, and integrating technology to enhance student engagement. Participants also explored current approaches to cultivate a sense of belonging for all students.  The conference provided opportunities for teachers to exchange ideas and reflect on their own teaching practices, drawing on insights from experts in the field. This experience will support ongoing efforts at JFK to strengthen instruction and meet the needs of learners across all grade levels. JFK Teachers presenting at the 42nd Annual Educators' Conference

The Annual Educators' Conference organized by the Tri – Association is around current themes based on educational research and best practices. The Conference usually host about 800 – 1000 attendees from schools all across Latin America. For the coming conference, which will take place in September 2024 in Mexico City, the organizers received over 100 proposals. Seven of the selected presenters are JFK teachers.  Being selected is truly a honor and a testament to the leading role that the John F. Kennedy School plays as an educational leader in the region. Because of this, we feel it is incredibly important to not only teach content, but to incorporate socio-emotional learning within lessons.   Positive Discipline Lab Schools are schools that implement the Positive Discipline Model school wide. These schools are recognized for their dedication to abroad the implementation of Positive Discipline. Our school has been recognized  for 3 years and to maintain our status we have been training part of our staff in Positive Discipline and working closely with a Positive Discipline Certified Trainer  to support program development.  We proudly present our new Certified Educators of Positive Discipline in the Classroom.  We will continue offering this training to our staff and we are ready to offer our workshops for parents, we hope to see you there!! Dear JFK Community, I am honored to introduce myself to the JFK educational community. My academic journey has culminated in a Bachelor's degree in English Education, complemented by a wide variety of courses and certifications pertaining to education, pedagogy and leadership skills. I am presently in pursuit of a Master's degree to further enrich my educational repertoire. With 14 years of experience in the education sector, predominantly in Mexico, I have had the privilege of traversing the entire basic education spectrum, from the formative stages of pre-school to the academically rigorous curriculum of high school. I have taught English Language Arts, Mathematics, Sciences, and Humanities, encompassing even the realms of philosophical inquiry.   By JFK Editorial Committee Miss Cristina Vergara, coordinator of the Science department at JFK High School, was recognized with this year's Emma Gutierrez Award, which is awarded annually by ASOMEX (Association of American Schools in Mexico), to recognize women's leadership in education with a $4,000 scholarship for PD training. “I applied because I would like to continue working on significant projects for my community, and I believe that, if I am awarded this scholarship, I will be able to learn where the future of education is going and share it with all members of that community”, says Cris. Miss Cris studied Biology with a specialty in Marine Ecology.
