The ceremony was carried out with great respect, highlighting the value and importance of our national symbol. Within this celebration we had the participation of the 4C group led by Miss Ana Juarez and the support of Miss Mayra Torres with a significant and beautiful presentation alluding to our national symbols. In the second part of the ceremony, the parade of 38 flags that represented our great JFK community was presented. High school students took the initiative to create a captivating Day of the Dead altar and thoughtfully shared its significance with their younger peers from the elementary and middle schools. This educational exchange not only deepened their comprehension of Mexican culture but also forged stronger bonds of unity and a lasting sense of community. As the Day of the Dead approached, our school transformed into a vibrant hub of Halloween excitement. Students of all ages wore creative costumes, setting the stage for a day filled with delightful surprises. From savoring traditional Mexican pan de muerto to participating in the cheerful activities of "trick-or-treating" and the enduring bonding while sharing sweets, the atmosphere was electric. Adding an artistic touch to the altar, 1st and 3rd grade students created cala...

Originally from Ukraine, I have had the privilege of living and working abroad in a variety of roles before my tenure at JFK School. My academic journey has been deeply rooted in language and teaching after having earned a master's degree in English Language and Literature and a PhD in Pedagogy. My experience includes teaching English Language & Literature (L&L) as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) across diverse settings and levels. My research has been dedicated to language acquisition and bilingualism. I was proud to join JFK as an English Language and Literature teacher at the Middle School level, where I dedicated three enriching years before transitioning to the SWAS program. The SWAS program stands as an exemplary sheltered language program designed to bridge the gap for emergent multilingual students. It uniquely focuses on teaching students both academic content and academic language simultaneously, catering to a multilingual framework. Our primary aim i...
