JFK General Director Re-elected as ASOMEX President for Second Term

Last weekend our General Director, Adrian Leece, was elected to be ASOMEX President for a second consecutive term. This means he will carry on for another three years representing and sharing best practices, professional development and student events across all 20 member schools in Mexico, helping to keep the name of JFK in the national and international spotlight.

About ASOMEX: ​The Association of American Schools in Mexico is the oldest of the many regional school associations throughout the world. Founded in 1957, the Association originally included eight American Schools. Today, the association is made up of 18 member schools throughout Mexico with a total enrollment of approximately 15,500 students and 1,250 teachers and administrators. These schools are private, non-profit institutions committed to offering an American type educational program, while also meeting the requirements of the Mexican Secretariat of Education. The purpose of the Association of American Schools in Mexico is to provide a collective means of serving the needs and interests of the member schools through a spirit of sharing ideas, programs, facilities and experiences, as well as the sharing of resources and information. El fin de semana pasado nuestro Director General, Adrian Leece, fue elegido para ser Presidente de ASOMEX por segundo término consecutivo. Esto significa que continuará por otros tres años representando y compartiendo las mejores prácticas, el desarrollo profesional y los eventos estudiantiles en las 20 escuelas miembro en México, ayudando a mantener el nombre de JFK en el centro de atención a nivel nacional e  internacional. ¡Felicidades por este logro Mr. Leece!

Acerca de ASOMEX: La Asociación de Escuelas Americanas en México es la más antigua de las muchas asociaciones escolares regionales en todo el mundo. Fundada en 1957, la Asociación originalmente incluía ocho Escuelas Americanas. Hoy en día, la asociación está compuesta por 18 escuelas miembro en todo México con una matrícula total de aproximadamente 15,500 estudiantes y 1,250 maestros y administradores. Estas escuelas son instituciones privadas sin fines de lucro, comprometidas a ofrecer un programa educativo de tipo americano, al tiempo que cumplen con los requisitos de la Secretaría de Educación de México. This weekend, the Jaguar spirit flooded the stands of the American Institute of Monterrey, with our 7th to 9th grade student teams participating in the ASOMEX soccer tournament. The girls' team achieved 5th place, and the boys' team brought home the 3rd place trophy!   Multilingual Graduates Mark a Triumph in SWAS Program In a heartwarming celebration of cultural diversity and academic achievement, students Banu Duru Aydin, Saulius Charles Aubron,Seung Ah Baek, Asa James Annestedt, Dami Kim, Sung Chul Jeong,Seunga Kang, Mathias Emilio Besecker Frayre  from primary, middle, and high school gathered for a small graduation ceremony. National Honor Society (NHS) was founded in the United States in 1921, hoping to create an organization that recognized and encouraged young people with four main purposes. “Create enthusiasm for academic achievement, stimulate the desire to serve, promote leadership, and develop character in students.” Now, after 102 years, NHS has become a prestigious, high-ranking organization among administrators, teachers, students, parents and residents of school communities. Its reputation for excellence is the result of years of commitment by everyone involved. Through service activities, NHS members must maintain and expand the qualities for which they were chosen.
