Congratulations to Bruno (8th), who just participated in the National Gymnastics competition in Toluca, State of Mexico, representing Querétaro last Thursday, June 5th. He won 3 Bronze medals and placed 4th nationally in the All Around. -------------- Muchas felicidades a Bruno (8°), quien acaba de participar en el Nacional de Gimnasia en Toluca, Edo. de México representando a Querétaro el pasado jueves 5 de junio. Ganó 3 medallas de Bronce y 4to lugar nacional en el All Around.

"My passion for volleyball started 18 years ago, since high school. I participated in events such as the World University Games in South Korea in 2015 and the Pre-World Championship with the senior team in the USA in 2017. Final Four with the senior team in Cuba in 2017. Today, I once again represent Mexico by playing in the Final Four in Ponce, Puerto Rico, a qualifier for the Challenger Cup. The teams we competed against were Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. My role at JFK, more than a position, is my function: to help the institution in shaping our students to be better people through sports: Student Support Sports. Without JFK's support, I wouldn't be able to participate in this important representation for our country. I am very grateful for the support received to be part of the national team. Last Tuesday, June 18th, the talented students of the 'JFK Orchestra' gave an exciting performance at the Antea Shopping Center. This event was not only an opportunity to enjoy their music but also to celebrate the hard work and collaborative spirit of the JFK Orchestra.  JFK Reads is a voluntary program that encourages students to read for pleasure. All elementary students and teachers are welcome to participate. Students document the pages that they have read into a Google Form.  Students can receive a sticker for every 200 pages (PF-2) or 300 pages (grades 3-5) read.  Once students have received 6 stickers, they have finished the program and are recognized in the JFK Reads Ceremony.  Congratulations to all of our enthusiastic readers!! -- JFK Readers es un programa voluntarios que alienta a los alumnos a leer por gusto. Todos los alumnos y maestros de Elementary pueden participar. Los alumnos registran las páginas que han leídos en un formulario de Google.  Los alumnos reciben un sticker por cada 200 páginas (PF a 2) o 300 páginas (3-5) leídas. Una vez que los alumnos reciben 6 stickers, terminan el programa y se les otorga un reconocimiento en la Ceremonia JFK Reads. Muchas felicidades a todos los entusiastas lectores.

 Last Wednesday, June 12th, the 4D students Camille, Luisa, Valentina and María Emilia made a monetary donation to the Hogar la Alegría de los Niños. They came up with the idea of raising funds, which they did by selling chocolates at school during their breaks, in order to help girls like themselves and thereby contribute to their community, put their values into practice, and promote the motto of this IAP, which is "Let's keep making the world a better place." For the second consecutive year, I have enhanced a project based on service-learning that addresses the inclusion and acceptance of people with diverse abilities (disabilities). This inspired me to share my experience with new ways to change society. On May 30th, I had the opportunity to introduce a new concept to first-year students in the Elementary Multipurpose Room. I established a fair focused on change (Fair for Change), presenting two characters of my own creation. I then guided the students to understand: What is a disability? Why shouldn’t we use the term disability? Why is it better to use diverse abilities? and other related questions. The students engaged in activities based on one of three diverse abilities: blindness, amputation, or dyslexia, and then identified solutions to the challenges they might encounter when performing activities with certain restrictions. From May 29-31, JFK students and staff  had the privilege of welcoming back the distinguished mathematics education specialist, Ms. Erma Anderson. Ms. Anderson is renowned for her extensive experience and innovative approach to teaching mathematics. She currently works with AERO, Tri-Association and several leading researchers in the field of education. Her work focuses on helping teachers understand and teach mathematics so that students can engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate.  During her visit, Ms. Anderson visited several classrooms and conducted a series of training sessions for our teachers, culminating in an all-day workshop on Friday for more than 70 teachers. Her workshop with teachers was based on her observations of classroom instruction at JFK and she offered ideas for how we can improve instruction and student learning.
