Young Writers in Monterrey

This past weekend 7 grade 5 students and I went to a writing conference in Monterrey at the Colegio Inglés. There were 95 students total from all over Mexico who attended the workshops.  The theme of the workshops was Harry Potter, and students wrote their own works of fiction, created short movies, and participated in other activities designed to stimulate their creativity and hone their fiction writing skills.  Ines Mejia Cobos and Constanza Sofia Navarrete Rocha received special recognition awards for their work during the conference.

El pasado fin de semana, 7 alumnos de 5° grado y yo, fuimos a un congreso de escritura en Monterrey, en el Colegio Inglés. En total participaron 95 alumnos de todo México. El tema de los atlleres fue Harry Potter, y los alumnos escribieron sus propios trabajos de ficción, crearon películas cortas y participaron en otras actividades asignadas para estimula su creatividad y afinar sus habilidades de escritura. Inés Mejpia Cobo y Constana Sofia Navarrete Rocha revcibieron una reconnocimiento especial por su trabajo durante el congreso.

This weekend, the Jaguar spirit flooded the stands of the American Institute of Monterrey, with our 7th to 9th grade student teams participating in the ASOMEX soccer tournament. The girls' team achieved 5th place, and the boys' team brought home the 3rd place trophy! SWAS Graduation

NHS, academic excellence, love for service, leadership and character

National Honor Society (NHS) was founded in the United States in 1921, hoping to create an organization that recognized and encouraged young people with four main purposes. “Create enthusiasm for academic achievement, stimulate the desire to serve, promote leadership, and develop character in students.” Now, after 102 years, NHS has become a prestigious, high-ranking organization among administrators, teachers, students, parents and residents of school communities. Its reputation for excellence is the result of years of commitment by everyone involved. Through service activities, NHS members must maintain and expand the qualities for which they were chosen.
