College Counseling: descubriendo oportunidades en el mundo

 The College Counseling department is pleased to inform you that during this first academic semester our high school students have had a personalized visit of 22 universities, from Mexico and abroad, both public and private. In addition to the 80 universities that visited us at our University Fair that took place last October 10. We also carried out a Mini Fair from the Spanish UNITOUR Group, welcoming 9 more universities.

Therefore, our students have been able to interact with the representatives of these universities, confirm the necessary processes to apply to the different available degrees, learn about the percentages of scholarships offered to them, and even more interesting, they are now aware of the importance and value of the IB Program, since several Canadian and American universities allow them to transfer from one subject to one whole semester in the first year of a university degree. Students can either skip the English test with their IB English & Literature High Level subject, or also skip the admission exam in some national universities with a fair SAT test average. For this reason, we are very happy that the students have taken into consideration the relevance of their high school studies and their impact on their next university experience. Besides, our seniors and many juniors have been able to compare different academic offers and resolve their doubts of various kinds.

Our College Counselor, Mónica Moedano Romero, has also attended various university meetings in Querétaro, Mexico City, and participated with a presentation on Education in Mexico at the CIS Bogotá meeting, which was attended by representatives of the best universities in Europe, Canada, the United States and Australia. Thus, taking our JFK school to the international scenery.

Every time students receive a visit from a university, they also receive information corresponding to the programs, scholarships, agreements and other opportunities offered by the different institutions by email. El departamento de College Counselling tiene el gusto de comunicarles que durante este primer semestre académico nuestros alumnos de preparatoria han tenido la visita personalizada de 22 universidades, provenientes de México y del extranjero, tanto públicas como privadas. Además de las 80 universidades que nos visitaron en nuestra Feria de Universidades que se realizó el pasado 10 de octubre.   Así como la visita del Grupo UNITOUR de España, con quien llevamos a cabo una mini-feria con 9 universidades de España.

De este modo, los alumnos han podido interactuar con los representantes de dichas universidades, confirmar los procesos necesarios para aplicar a las diferentes licenciaturas, conocer los porcentajes de becas que ofrecen y sobre todo darse cuenta de la importancia de la validez del IB Program, ya que varias universidades canadienses e incluso americanas, les permiten exentar desde una materia hasta un semestre en el primer año de carrera universitaria. O bien exentar la prueba de inglés con su materia de IB English & Literature High Level, o también exentando los exámenes de admisión en algunas universidades en México con un buen promedio del SAT.  Razón por la cual, estamos muy contentos de que los alumnos han tomado consciencia de la relevancia de sus estudios de preparatoria y su repercusión en su próxima experiencia universitaria.  También nuestros seniors y ya muchos juniors han podido comparar diferentes ofertas académicas y resolver sus dudas de diversas índoles.

Nuestra College Counsellor, Mónica Moedano Romero, también ha asistido a diversos encuentros universitarios en Querétaro, Ciudad de México y participó con una ponencia sobre la educación en México en el encuentro de CIS Bogotá, a la cual asistieron representantes de las mejores universidades de Europa, Canadá, Estados Unidos y Australia. Dando así a conocer nuestra escuela JFK a nivel internacional.

Cada vez que los alumnos reciben la visita de una universidad, también reciben la información correspondiente a los programas, becas, convenios y otras oportunidades que ofrecen las diferentes instituciones por email.
