MYP Coffee Talk: Welcome to the Middle Years Programme

Our Coffee Talk was a fun time together with parents from 6th to 10th grades who are just now starting in the MYP system of learning.  Miss Laura Davis, our MYP Coordinator led the Coffee Talk in which learning is emphasized as a journey, and assessment and evaluation reflect where they are on the journey.  Parents learned about the importance of conceptual learning, and our talented NJHS students helped out by explaining how teachers grade in the MYP, plus gave them advice on how to help their children in the MYP.  One of the most impactful statements was from J, who said “We know how to solve our problems... our parents just need to remind us that we can.”

Nuestra Coffee Talk fue un momento divertido con padres de 6º a 10º grado que recién están comenzando en el sistema de aprendizaje del MYP en el IB.  Miss Laura Davis, nuestra coordinadora del MYP, dirigió la sesión en la que se enfatiza el aprendizaje como un viaje, y la evaluación refleja en qué punto del viaje se encuentran nuestros alumnos. Los padres de familia que asistieron aprendieron sobre la importancia del aprendizaje conceptual, y nuestros talentosos alumnos de NJHS ayudaron, explicándoles cómo los maestros califican en el MYP, además les dieron consejos sobre cómo ayudar a sus hijos. Uno de los consejos más impactantes fue el de J, quien dijo: "Sabemos cómo resolver nuestros problemas... nuestros padres sólo necesitan recordarnos que sí podemos".

This weekend, the Jaguar spirit flooded the stands of the American Institute of Monterrey, with our 7th to 9th grade student teams participating in the ASOMEX soccer tournament. The girls' team achieved 5th place, and the boys' team brought home the 3rd place trophy! SWAS Graduation

  Multilingual Graduates Mark a Triumph in SWAS Program In a heartwarming celebration of cultural diversity and academic achievement, students Banu Duru Aydin, Saulius Charles Aubron,Seung Ah Baek, Asa James Annestedt, Dami Kim, Sung Chul Jeong,Seunga Kang, Mathias Emilio Besecker Frayre  from primary, middle, and high school gathered for a small graduation ceremony. NHS, academic excellence, love for service, leadership and character

National Honor Society (NHS) was founded in the United States in 1921, hoping to create an organization that recognized and encouraged young people with four main purposes. “Create enthusiasm for academic achievement, stimulate the desire to serve, promote leadership, and develop character in students.” Now, after 102 years, NHS has become a prestigious, high-ranking organization among administrators, teachers, students, parents and residents of school communities. Its reputation for excellence is the result of years of commitment by everyone involved. Through service activities, NHS members must maintain and expand the qualities for which they were chosen. Candidates were selected by a faculty council and now all must respect the ideals and values ​​of NHS to maintain membership status and graduate with honours. The John F.
