Open Classes: An Opportunity to Bring Parents and Children Closer to Learning / Clases Abiertas: Una oportunidad para acercar a padres e hijos al aprendizaje

Image
During the month of October, our parents had the opportunity to participate in our Open Classes, a space designed for them to get a closer look at the daily routines in the classroom. Guided by their teachers and surrounded by their classmates, each student had the chance to showcase what they have learned at the beginning of the school year. These activities not only allow parents to observe firsthand the effort and dedication their children put into their classroom work but also strengthen the bonds between the school, students, and their families. It is an invaluable moment for parents to appreciate the daily work their children do and to celebrate their academic achievements. We are convinced that these experiences contribute to strengthening the relationship between home and school, promoting an environment of support and collaboration for the benefit of our students. JFK Union and Peace Model UN "Voices of Tomorrow"

Image
Last weekend, the JFK Union and Peace Model UN (United Nations) event took place, under this year’s inspiring theme: “Voices of Tomorrow.” This gathering brought together young students from 18 different schools, all with a common purpose: to explore how their voices can be the driving force for change in a world full of challenges. Under the motto “The voices of tomorrow are not limited to who will create change, but how and through what means,” participants reflected on their ability to address problems that have arisen throughout history. With a focus on justice, armed conflicts, and environmental crises, students discussed how new generations have the power to reverse these issues and fight for a better future. "Voices of Tomorrow" has different interpretations, but the central message is clear: each individual must decide whether their voice will be heard amidst the world’s adversities. As Jackie Kennedy once said, “We must know ourselves in order to express ourselves,” ...

Ecotourism at the Ecoclub / Ecoturismo en el ecoclub

Image
On October 19, the students of the Ecoclub went on their first environmental outing to the Rancho Vía Orgánica. We learned about the "milpa" and were able to harvest corn and eat it— it was delicious! Our tour consisted of a walk around the ranch, observing different animals. We learned about the importance of each one of them and the role that every living being plays on our planet. Our tour was amazing! Being in touch with nature is healthy for our mind and body. Doing this type of family ecotourism activity helps us learn more about the local flora and fauna, become more sensitive to nature, recognize and appreciate what we have, and enjoy the local culture. But most importantly, it increases our knowledge in a dynamic and entertaining way. An event filled with family bonding, fun, and learning. If you want to experience this, we invite you to join our Ecoclub! ----------------------------------------- El pasado 19 de octubre los alumnos del Ecoclub realizaron su primera s...

Implementation of the Traffic Violation System / Implementación del Sistema de Infracciones Viales

Image
We are pleased to inform you that starting next week, we will implement a traffic violation system for those who do not adhere to the traffic rules at our school. This includes practices such as parking in prohibited areas, exceeding speed limits, and double parking. The aim of this system is to raise awareness about the importance of following these rules, which are essential for the safety of our students. It is important to note that the violations will be primarily informational. By highlighting these behaviors, we hope to encourage reflection on the potential consequences for everyone's safety. We will also introduce an "incident traffic light" to assess compliance with these measures within our school community. Stay tuned for more updates on our weekly JFK Buzz. The safety of our students is our top priority, and your cooperation is crucial in creating a safe and responsible environment. We appreciate your support and commitment to this important initiative. --...

We Celebrated our Jaguar Day with Great Joy! / ¡Celebramos el Jaguar Day con gran alegría!

Image
On October 11th, our school was filled with energy and excitement during Jaguar Day. This special event brought together students from all sections for a day packed with sports activities, laughter, and, above all, to celebrate the birthday of our beloved JJ. From early on, students participated in many team games. Although the competition was fierce, the highlight was the incredible camaraderie, with students cheering each other on and forming bonds that strengthened their team spirit. The most anticipated moment of the day was undoubtedly JJ's birthday party. Friends from other schools, such as Cumbres, Anáhuac, Plenus, Newland, Cuauhtémoc, Gallos Negros, and Celta, joined in on the celebration. JJ, with his characteristic enthusiasm, danced, played, and, of course, received many hugs and good wishes from his friends. Laughter was abundant, and the students enjoyed fun activities, making it a true delight to see our Jaguars jumping for joy and reveling in the day. It was ...

JFK Reads, much more than a reading program for kids!

Image
Elementary School is excited to announce the launch of JFK Reads! This program has been reinvented this year to include Reading Journals. This reading incentive program allows Elementary students to track their reading and respond to creative writing prompts. Through JFK Reads, students will have the opportunity to explore various books and stories, enhancing their literacy skills and expanding their global understanding. A unique aspect of this program is the active involvement of parents, who can participate alongside their children in reading sessions and discussions, creating a supportive community around literacy. By promoting reading within the JFK community, we aim to develop critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity in our students—attributes essential to the IB framework. JFK Reads is more than just a reading program; it is a stepping stone towards nurturing well-rounded individuals who appreciate diverse perspectives and are prepared to engage with the w...
