March 8th, Equity and Inclusion

In order to contribute to an environment of equity and respect in our community, last Friday, March 8th, Alysa Perreras gave a conference to our students from 8th to 12th grade. Alysa began her work in teaching, learning and growing alongside high school students for over a decade. In recent years, her work has expanded to include curriculum design, adult professional learning, strategic planning, and educational consulting, all through an anti-bias, anti-racist, and justice-centered lens. Her consulting services include inclusion strategy development, systems building, and professional learning on anti-racist processes and practices. She has worked with schools all over the world and has presented at several international conferences. She combines her own lived experiences as a multiracial and multicultural woman and intentional study of other social change practitioners to bring an intersectional lens to everything she does. HS Art Exhibition 2024

We are delighted to share with you the recent art exhibition carried out by the talented 12thgrade students on the past 6th and 7th of March.  The overflowing creativity during these two days was truly astonishing. The Elementary School Multipurpose Room transformed into a captivating showcase of artistic expression, where every corner held the unique essence of our students' individual visions. From vibrant paintings to transcendent sculptures, the diversity of art forms presented demonstrated the richness of talent among our final-year students. It was evident that the students invested time, effort, and passion into each of their creations, and this commitment was reflected in the exceptional quality of the exhibition.  Visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of imagination, curiosity, and reflection, exploring the nuances of our students' creative minds. Alumni Stories: Alex Tovar, Gen 23

"Since I arrived at the University of Michigan it has been a great experience and the IB definitely helped me by giving me a high level of English which exempted me from a writing class. Likewise, they gave me credits for Spanish and I didn't have to take a Pre-Calculus exam, so I went straight to Calculus 1. Something that also helped me a lot was taking Physics, Math Analysis and IB Design, since a lot of What we saw in those classes for the Final Exams and mocks, I am seeing it now in Engineering. And of course, the constant practice of essays like the Extended Essay got me used to many of the jobs we do here related to research. It is definitely challenging, but at no time have I felt that I have had a disadvantage compared to students who have been studying their entire lives in the United States. ASOMEX Soccer Results

This weekend, the Jaguar spirit flooded the stands of the American Institute of Monterrey, with our 7th to 9th grade student teams participating in the ASOMEX soccer tournament. The girls' team achieved 5th place, and the boys' team brought home the 3rd place trophy! Congratulations Jaguars for your excellent performance, and to all the JFK moms and dads who accompanied them with united and enthusiastic cheers during the tournament.    ---------------------------- Este fin de semana, el espíritu Jaguar inundó las gradas del American Institute of Monterrey, con la participación en el torneo ASOMEX de soccer de nuestros equipos de alumnos de 7mo a 9no. El equipo femenil logró el 5to lugar y el varonil trajo a casa la copa de 3er lugar! Felicidades Jaguars por su excelente desempeño, y a todos los papás y mamás JFK que los acompañaron con una porra unida y entusiasta durante el torneo.

MS ASOMEX Math Counts

Middle School students have successfully competed in the ASOMEX MathCounts event in Peterson Schools in Mexico City, in which our team took 4th place overall in the Relay category and our 8th grade student Kouske Andrade placed in the Top 20 for the event.  We are grateful for the guidance from Miss Fer Arroyo and support, and excited to see our Jaguars achieving the extraordinary in Mathematics!   Camille Casses, MS Principal   ------------------------------------------------------- Alumnos de Middle School han competido exitosamente en el evento ASOMEX MathCounts en Peterson Schools de la Ciudad de México, en el cual nuestro equipo obtuvo el 4to lugar general en la categoría Relevos y nuestro alumno de octavo grado Kouske Andrade se ubicó en el Top 20 del evento. ¡Estamos agradecidos por la guía y el apoyo de Miss Fer Arroyo, y emocionados de ver a nuestros Jaguars lograr lo extraordinario en Matemáticas!
