Trip with friends “Travel and learn in the Sierra Gorda” / Viaje entre amigos “Viaja y aprende en la Sierra Gorda”

Image
After almost 3 years the Ecoclub has resumed its environmental trips. On October 13 to 15, an incredible trip was made among friends with the aim of enjoying and valuing the nature of the Sierra Gorda Queretana, getting to know the different ecosystems. We learned new things with the specialists who live in the region but above all, we had fun and spent time with people who value nature. We visited the wonderful Cuatro Palos lookout and the Chuveje waterfall where we were able to take a tour through the forest observing a gallery of poplar trees. In the Ayutla River we took a tour to identify the local flora and fauna and we also had a great time with all the participants making wood-fired pizzas. Finally, we went to Concá where we were able to visit the ancient tree that is the second oldest after the tule tree located in Oaxaca. Finally, we ended up visiting the Franciscan mission of Miguel Concá If you want to live this experience, we invite you to be part of the Ecoclub next ...

JFK Hands-Only CPR Day

Image
On the morning of Saturday, October 14, the first "JFK Hands-Only CPR" day was held, with the objective of training children and adults of all ages in the application of this CPR technique to help a person who has fallen into cardiac arrest. In 20-minute shifts, 103 people were trained, with our youngest and oldest participants being a little girl in 3rd grade kindergarten and a grandmother of an elementary school student, respectively. Thus, our JFK community now has 103 more people who will be able to help save a life if necessary. The participation and commitment of the instructors (CAS High School students) was crucial. We extend our most sincere thanks and recognition to Mauricio de la Peña, Alejandro Chávez, Sofía Ávila, Maro Castro, Andrés Chaparro, Eric Jung, David Ceballos, Leticia Soupart, Patricio Macías and Gerardo Robles who shared their knowledge of hands-only CPR throughout the day. We would also like to thank Dr. Juan Manuel Fraga who, from the beginning of...
